About The Good Dog Way
Balanced, reality-based dog training with locations in Bellingham, WA and Phoenix, AZ — built for severe behavior cases and the everyday obedience owners actually need. We take on the hard ones, including the 'last chance' dogs other trainers couldn't fix.
What we believe
Love them by leading them. Dogs feel safest, calmest, and most confident when they have clear structure and a human they can trust to lead. Good training shouldn't just look pretty in a training session — it has to hold up in the real world, around real distractions, in the places you actually live, walk, host, travel, and relax.
How we train
We specialize in the cases most trainers won't take — aggression, fear, anxiety, reactivity, leash lunging and pulling, jumping, door bolting, resource guarding, and separation anxiety. We also help families, first-time owners, adolescent dogs, and rescues who simply need stronger obedience, better manners, and a calmer home. We're known for taking on the difficult, "last chance" dogs other programs have given up on.
Who we help
We work with any dog — easy or hard. That includes puppies starting on the right foot, families wanting better manners and obedience, adolescent dogs going through their wild stage, and rescues settling into a new home. It also includes the tougher cases most trainers shy away from — aggression, fear, anxiety, reactivity, leash lunging and pulling, jumping, door bolting, resource guarding, and separation anxiety. From everyday obedience to "last chance" behavior cases, we meet your dog where they are.
What it feels like to work with us
Direct, transparent, and supportive. Our immersive Board & Train programs, and Day Training Programs, handle the heavy lifting with the dog, while our hands on sessions coach you through the transfer so the results stick. You'll always know what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what your role looks like once training is done.
Meet the owner
The Good Dog Way is rooted in the balanced, reality-based methods made well-known by trainers like Sean O'Shea — focused on leadership, structure, and real-world reliability rather than treats alone. With locations in Bellingham, WA and Phoenix, AZ, our mission is simple: help good dogs and good owners get unstuck, and build calmer homes, better outings, and clearer communication.
